Collection includes typed bylaws (2 p.) and cover letter, to E. J. Stone, Fremont (Mich.), from G. E. Carr, Grand Dragon, Realm of Michigan, Nov. 4, 1925. The bylaws were signed by F. D. Lorhr, James Hollowell, Ervin L. Phillips, Ja. Keller, Exalted Cyclops, E. J. Stone, Kigrapp, and G. E. Carr, Imperial Wizard/Dragon, Atlanta, Ga., Nov. 3, 1915. Also included are photocopies of a photograph of a Klan parade, Oct. 30, 1924, in Hart (Mich.); and copies of newspaper articles re: Ku Klux Klan collection auction in Newaygo County: Sunday Chronicle, Fremont, Nov. 1, 1992 (2 p.); Oceana Herald Journal, October 29, 1992; and the Grand Rapids Press, Nov. 1, 1992. Also included is the oversized, 20 x 24 inches, charter of the Ku Klux Klan Fremont, Newaygo County, Klan #29, Sept. 2, 1925. The charter has a gold trim illustrative border and is printed with black and red ink illustration of two robed klansmen on robed horses with a fiery cross, scroll with the motto "without fear and without reproach," and a crown. Sections of the charter are filled in with neat penmanship in black ink. Two seals, one with a ribbon, are attached to the charter, decorated with I.W.K.K.K., a cross, and chains. The officers listed on the charter are: James A. Keller, Exalted Cyclops, L. J. Branch and Walter Reed, Kludd, Elbert Johnson, Klokann Chief, Allie Paige, Night Hawk, Geo. Shannon, Klaliff, E. P. Stone, Kigrapp, Harvey Seymour, Karogo, Fred Herrod and Wm. Gorham, Klokann, Louis Webber, Kolkard, Ledford Anderson, Klabee, Andrew Preston, Klexter, Wm. Gorham, Klokann, H. W. Evans, Imperial Wizard, H. H. Awiney?, Imperial Kligrapp, and R. H. Davis, witness.

The Ku Klux Klan was formally incorporated under the laws of the state of Georgia on Dec. 4, 1915. The incorporated organization is a continuance of the earlier post Civil War Reconstruction Era unincorporated Ku Klux Klan and of the Knights of the White Camellia. Women of the Ku Klux Klan was incorporated at a late date as a separate entity.
